Episode Three: Earth Day - "The Link"

INT. GREGORY'S BEDROOM

Gregory drags various pieces of clothing off his old telescope which he had all but abandoned years ago and stares at the night sky;looking at the celestial bodies with renewed interest. He stares intently at the Sirius star which is flickering brilliantly in the night sky. But to Gregory's increased, acute sight, it is way brighter than normal. He lifts his eyes up from the telescope and stands in his window staring at the star with his naked eyes. Then, suddenly, his sight seems to travel through space rapidly passing meteors and other celestial bodies racing to the star. This startles him and he jumps back, rubbing his eyes. When he looks out again and down, he sees a black unmarked van parked outside his window. He backs away.

OONA

(telepathically to Gregory)

Yesssss. They are everywhere.

GREGORY

Can't a man have some peace?! Geez!

OONA

That's the core of the mission. I need you to meet me. And please remember to speak telepathically.

GREGORY

(telepathically)

Now you sound like something from Star Trek. What mission? The only mission I will take part in, is the one that leads me to the Professor.

OONA

Your professor will be found during. But first, I must reveal some basics that you need to know. Now, I need you to meet me.

GREGORY

You yourself said that these goons are everywhere. How is it possible for me to meet you without them tracking me.

OONA

The same way you almost ended up on the Star Sirius just now. You think about it.

GREGORY

How did you-

OONA

-Think about water. Water is a medium that their devices can not track us through.

GREGORY

The fountain in the middle of Fairfax park?

OONA

Good. Meet me inside of the fountain now.

GREGORY

But. But.

Gregory paces, biting his nails

OONA

I'm waiting.

GREGORY

Okay Okay. This can't be real. Okay. Concentrate. The fountain at Fairfax.

Gregory closes his eyes tightly and tightens his fists as if he's about to be beamed up. He grunts.

OONA

Oh enough! I don't have time for this.

Oona transports Gregory with her mind inside of the fountain at the Fairfax park.

EXT. Fairfax park-inside water fountain

Gregory, startled and wet, starts to shake uncontrollably as if just popping up to the surface of a pool after almost drowning.

Oona is dry.

OONA

(calmly)

The first thing you must learn to do is travel at your whim. If you do not, you are doomed.

GREGORY

How come you're dry?

OONA

Focus.

Gregory looks around

GREGORY

I can't believe I'm actually here.

OONA

You're going to have to learn how to believe.

GREGORY

Okay. Okay. You've convinced me. I believe in what I don't know. And now I guess you'll tell me that you're an alien, right?

OONA

No. You're the alien. I am a superior being from the planet Alturis in the 4th quadrant of "The System" three universes away.

Oona, palms up, generates a holographic image for Gregory to get a visual of where her planet sits in the Multiverse.

GREGORY

(excited)

No Way!

OONA

I was sent here to be your guide.

GREGORY

Guide for what?

OONA

To save Planet Earth

GREGORY

Come again?

OONA

Planet Earth, unknown to it's so called intelligent inhabitants, is precious-Unlike most planets, able to sustain many forms of life. It is a Class A Recyclable, which means that every form of matter in it, water, oxygen, carbon dioxide, even humans, are recyclable. Therefore, it can never run out resources necessary for life. It is highly sought after by many beings across the Multiverse.

GREGORY

Are we talking "Invasion" here?

(holding his finger up to make air quotes)

OONA

The System was created to make sure chaos, such as invasions do not occur in the Multiverse. So, an invasion can not happen. Earth and it's inhabitants are protected from outside invaders.

GREGORY

Whewww! That's a relief

OONA

But...other invaders are already inside. The humans themselves. Many want to see you wiped off before you destroy Planet Earth completely. Even the patience of the Federation is wearing thin as it watches the slow destruction. The scientists who planted you here as an experiment in the first place are the ones who go before the Federation frequently, making a case for you humans.

GREGORY

Whoa Whoa Whoa. Back up a minute. Uhhhh...planted us here? As an experiment?

OONA

I have said too much. All you need to know right now is that a human organization was able to hack into the cloaking mechanism of one of the Scientists' microscopes and succeeded in shooting it down. You happened to be exposed to the most important part of it, the recorder.

GREGORY

Recording throughout time.

OONA

Earth's time. Your contact with it has triggered your DNA to undergo a quick evolution. You are still evolving right now. This is what the Scientists want humans to do on their own but they don't seem to be able to evolve. Too busy fighting one another. Ego, I suppose.

GREGORY

So, the fact that my sight and hearing are unreal and I can speak telepathically was already embedded in me?

OONA

And many other abilities. In you and all humans. You're just fortunate. There are others like you who have been exposed to the debris of the microscope but they are not priority. Priority is receiving the next message from the Federation so that I may guide you to safely, beyond Earth but yet on Earth.

GREGORY

Huh?

OONA

You will understand in time. But now, you must meet me at the hospital-Fairfax General. There we will get the next message. But there is one thing you must understand Gregory. Humans could not have brought down the microscope on their own. This organization is headed by a being not of Earth but a rogue scientist who wants to see humans destroyed. He'll stop at nothing to make sure they destroy themselves. His people are who you see parked outside your house and everywhere you turn. These are the people who abducted you two days ago.

GREGORY

Yeah! Boy do I have a vendetta. So why do they want me? What is this organization anyway?

OONA

You are proof that evolution in humans is possible. This makes a case for the Federation to allow the human experiment to go on. This is not good for the organization.

GREGORY

What is the name of this big time organization anyway?

OONA

You yourself said it without knowing

GREGORY

No Way! The Alien Protection Agency?!

OONA

APA for short. Now we must go.

GREGORY

I think I'm in over my head.

OONA

You are not alone.

fade to black

EXT. Unmarked van outside Fairfax general hospital

2 Blocks away, two APA agents stake out Gregory and Oona in the hospital, watching their movements through "Aura Seeking" reconnaissance. We see outlines of orange bodily hues on a flat screen being observed by these agents.

AGENT sigma

They're in an elevator in the west wing of the hospital. And as we suspected. One has an aura and the other doesn't. I'm trying to get into the hospital surveillance system. Just give me a moment...there we go.

AGENT Epsilon

The Intensive Care Unit. Watch them. You should call Alpha.

AGENT SIGMA

Not yet, let's wait and see what happens.

Agent Epsilon just shrugs and closes the infrared monitor. Agent Sigma watches the two from the surveillance cameras.

INT.elevator

Oona and Gregory stand in the elevator going to the 3rd floor rather slowly because Oona has slowed it down significantly to explain a few things to Gregory. Oona is aware of the agents watching them.

OONA

(pulling at her skin)

This is why I hate aura emitting human bodies.

GREGORY

(looking at Oona strangely)

Sooooo. You're an alien, huh?

OONA

No. Like I told you before. You are the alien. I am a guide assigned to you.

GREGORY

(sarcastically)

Righttttttt. And I will evolve and single handily save the Earth and everyone in it. I'll be getting off now. (looking at the elevator floor panel) Wait. We haven't left the 1st floor.

Oona makes the elevator move with her psychic ability.

OONA

Not single handily. You will have to meet many in order to become one.

GREGORY

So first you're an alien, now you're a guru. Next you'll be telling me that you're the Dali Lama.

OONA

No, but I have had audience with all of the Dali Lamas. Oh Gregory Hunt. You have much to learn.

Gregory and Oona step out on to the 3rd floor.

Int. late evening, quiet hospital hallway, sterile environment

Oona and Gregory navigate the hospital hallways.

Gregory

Look. All I want to do is find the Professor. As annoying as he was, he doesn't deserve to be imprisoned in some lab somewhere.

Is he on this floor?

Oona

Shhh, please if you have to speak use your -- you know. And stop asking silly questions, we don't have time for this. Now hurry, we have to find the link before it expires. So concentrate.

GREGORY

Link?! What are you talking about? Are we looking for the Professor or a Link?!

(defiantly stops walking)

I'm not going any further until you explain why we're here.

Suddenly, Gregory stops, grabs his head with a strange look on his face and pleads for Oona to stop.

GREGORY

Oona. Make it stop you crazy...!

OONA

(looking around)

I am not doing that. It's the link. We must be close. Just try to relax and listen for it Gregory. Relax. Relax and listen.

Oona tries to calm Gregory into listening.

GREGORY

I can't hear anything, and my head, my head...

(He stops and lets go of his head)

Wait, I hear something, but it's faint.

OONA

Good which way should we go?

Peace Lily, doubles as a volunteer candystriper after school. She passes them in the adjacent hallway, pushing a cart of plants and flowers and humming happily. Gregory does not recognize her at first.

GREGORY

The Candystriper. Follow her.

They follow her to the end of the hallway, where two doctors and five visitors are leaving the room on the end. They are walking towards Gregory and Oona discussing the patient's chart.

doctor 1

There is only so much hope for recovery Mrs. Matterson. I know it was very hard for you and your husband to decide it was time. Pulling the plug is not the easiest thing to do. But after all, five years is a long time to hang on without any sign of a change.

Mrs. Matterson

(weeping)

I really thought she would pull through, but seeing all these machines keeping her alive; this...this is no longer my daughter. My Jodie is gone.

Oona grabs Gregory and hugs him pretending to cry as the Matterson party passes. They continue talking and walking.

DOCTOR 1

If you would follow me to my office, we can get the paper work signed. And that's it. Mrs. Matterson are you sure you are going to be okay?

MRS. MATTERSON

Yes, yes, Doctor Newball. It is the right thing to do.

Dr. Newball

So tonight we will begin the process by first removing the respiratory tubes. You know Mrs. Matterson (hand on shoulder) you are doing the right thing--

Dr. Newball continues talking while he guides the Matterson family to his office. Peace Lily has disappeared for the moment. Gregory tries to figure out where the link is. Oona is already aware but must only guide Gregory.

OONA

Gregory, just quiet your small human mind and listen. The link will guide you. We don't have a lot of time.

GREGORY

This is not easy you know, and how come you can't find the link, huh? You space creature.

OONA

Because that's your job-to find the links and decode the messages. I just have the old, tedious job of guiding and protecting you.

GREGORY

Am I in danger, why do you have to protect me?

OONA

Oh Wake up already! Your house is bugged, your parents are drones. And let us not forget that you were kidnapped and drugged. Ring a belle? Now could you just focus on the matter at hand please.

GREGORY

Gregory has flashbacks of being dragged into an APA-Alien Protection Agency building and being questioned and then passing out after injected with a needle in his neck. He reaches up and rubs his neck.

OONA

Ahhhh. Now you're getting it.

GREGORY

What is this all about? Will this help us find the professor?

OONA

In time Gregory. Now can we focus on the matter at hand. The link?

GREGORY

How do I know you're not with them? And how do I know you're not just using me to find out some information for them?

OONA

I have guided the likes of DaVinci, Galileo, Napoleon-his Josephine hated me but that's another story. The point is, I have never met a Val-non who was so defensive.

GREGORY

What the hell is a Val-non?

OONA

(pointing at him)

That's you and others like you.

They stop at a door where Peace Lily's cart has been abandoned. They approach the room slowing peering in and see her arranging sunflowers on the table while a patient sleeps. Peace Lily talks to the flowers and they dance and bloom with her touch.

Ext. unmarked black sedan outside hospital

Two agents are monitoring a screen with multiple video feeds. A cellphone rings.

AGENT SIGMA

(answering phone)

Sir, we are monitoring them, now.

(pause, listens)

Yes, Sir, they are still in there... on the 3rd floor, West Wing. No, Sir. We will, Sir.

(hangs up phone and looks back at the monitor)

(to the other Agent)

That was Alpha, we're ordered to watch them for now.

Agent Epsilon

(nods in agreement and points to monitor)

They just entered the room on the end. But there are no cameras in the room. We will just have to wait.

int. hospital room of comatose patient Jodi MAtterson

They enter the room quietly startling Peace Lily as she arranges the flowers and talks to the patient lying comatose.

candystriper

I know how you love sunflowers --

(turning around, startled)

oh pardon me, I -- Gregory is that you? What are you doing here? I didn't know you knew Jodi Matterson.

GREGORY

(comically feminine sounding)

I don't know her...Well what are you doing here Tiger Lily? And in that outfit no less.

PEACE LILY

It's Peace Lily can't you get that right?

(thinking to herself)

Wanker!!

GREGORY

Yeah Yeah. Calling me a wanker again.

PEACE LILY

(a bit nervous)

I n..never called you that...to your face. Anyway, if you must know, I volunteer here. Ms. Oona -- hey what... what's going on?

OONA

Shush you two. We don't have time for this. They are expiring this human's earth life tonight and we are running out of time.

Gregory/peace lily

Huh?

OONA

They are pulling the plug on her.

PEACE LILY

That's so sad.

GREGORY

She's the link. This woman is the link.

Peace Lily looking annoyed.

PEACE LILY

What are you talking about?

GREGORY

(looking at OONA)

The pain stopped. But that can't be. She's a vegetable.

PEACE LILY

The correct term is comatose

OONA

(looking at Jodi Matterson in wonderment)

There are no limits to the human mind. You need to open up YOUR minds and realize this for yourselves.

GREGORY

Should you really be talking about this in front of Green Pea?

PEACE LILY

What's going on here? You really shouldn't be here at this time or anytime. And Ms. Oona, I am surprised at you. I mean, an educator such as yourself should know better than to hang out after hours with the likes of Gregory Hunt.

OONA

(ignoring Peace Lily; talking to Gregory)

Of course I can speak in front of her. She's a Val-non too.

PEACE LILY

A val what?

OONA

Let's get what we came for. Proceed Gregory.

GREGORY

What am I supposed to do, a rain dance around her?

OONA

Communicate with her psyche as we do.

PEACE LILY

I'm going to call security. This is just weird.

OONA

Weirder than you talking to plants and them obeying your every command?

Peace Lily looks at Oona flabbergasted. Awkward silence.

GREGORY

(to Peace Lily)

I always knew you were nuts.

PEACE LILY

And apparently you are too, Wanker.

OONA

(sarcastic, playful voice)

Children. Time is not our friend. Gregory, please ask her what information she has for you.

Gregory takes a deep breath and squints his eyes comically at Jodi Matterson. He walks closer to her, looks at her with sad eyes.

GREGORY

(telepathically)

Ms. Matterson? Ms. Matterson?

OONA

Call her by her first name. That's more personable.

GREGORY

Okay, okay

PEACE LILY

What are you doing?

OONA

Shhh! (shooting Peace Lily a threatening stare)

GREGORY

(starts to mumble incoherently)

Center?... rock?...center of the rock?...I don't understand. What thief? --

OONA

Good Gregory. Just relax and listen.

Int. west wing, third floor hallway

Dr. Newball and the family walk back towards Jodi's room to carry out the family's wishes of disconnecting the machines

DR. NEWBALL

Well, the procedure is really quite simple --

INT. HOSPITAL ROOM OF COMATOSE PATIENT

Peace Lily cleans up her plants and returns to the cart, where she sees a crowd of people approaching.

PEACE LILY

It seems your time is up, the family is coming back.

(returning to the room.)

GREGORY

I don't understand, what she is saying something about a golden thief of fire in the rock, it makes no sense.

OONA

Let's go!

(turning to towards the door)

Peace Lily you move your cart and distract them, we are right behind you.

PEACE LILY

I don't even know what's going on, why should I do anything.

OONA

(speaking sternly without opening her mouth and looking directly at Peace Lily)

Because if you don't, I will make you do it anyway.

PEACE LILY

What?! Are you in my head, how did--

GREGORY

No time. I'm outta here.

int. Hallway of third floor

Gregory grabs a few plants off the cart and pretends to work. Peace Lily pushes the cart forward. Oona is left behind.

PEACE LILY

What is she doing?

GREGORY

Who knows but I am sure she can take care of herself. Let's go.

int of patient's room

Oona stops to speak to Jodi Matterson one more time.

OONA

Well done Jodi. He will certainly figure it out.

(She touches Jodi's hands and closes her eyes)

Oona exits the room right before the crowd reaches the end of the hall. They seem not to notice her. Oona walks swiftly down the hallway. She hears a scream and somebody dropping something coming from the room she just left and smiles.

Ext. Jodi matterson room

A nurse runs out to the front desk for help. We hear a code 99 called over the PA system throughout the hospital.

PA system

Code 99 to Nursing Station 32 West, STAT!

(The call code is repeated)

int. candystriper locker area

Peace Lily wants to drop her stuff off in her locker. She insists on leaving with them because she wants answers and accidentally opens another can of worms. She talks non stop without breathing or stopping

PEACE LILY

You know I notice there was a J. Steiner listed on the patient list the other day and I thought it was the professor, but when I got to the room, it was empty.

(She continues)

I thought it was very strange, since he is off to Borneo and all but I was curious. Anyway, I'm almost ready just let me get my bag and then I want some answers Mr. Hunt!

(turning to find no one)

Gregory, Gregory, where are you?

Peace Lily finds Gregory at the nearby desk using the computer. He is hacking the hospital database.

PEACE LILY

What now? Get away from that computer, what are you doing?

GREGORY

Hello, a minute please, I can't hack the database with you gabbing in my ear. Oh here we go, J. Steiner...It says here he was moved yesterday to the East Wing 10th floor. What's up there, Green Peace?

PEACE LILY

Peace Lily, it is a flower you wanker --

GREGORY

--yeah yeah, what up there?

PEACE LILY

That's the Psychiatric Ward

(she says sadly)

GREGORY

We have to go up there, I need to know if that he is okay. Which way?

Oona walks in as they are about to walk out.

OONA

Let's get out of her the agents are coming in the main entrance.

PEACE LILY

We should go out the Emergency Room way there are lots of people running through there all the time

OONA

Good thinking Peace Lily, now let's go!

EXT. UNMARKED BLACK SEDAN OUTSIDE HOSPITAL

The agents realize they are not leaving and come in to see what they are doing. The enter through the main entrance of the hospital. All the while using a smaller hand held unit connected to the hospital security system. They head down to the locker area in the basement exiting the elevator as soon as our trio head up the stairs to the ground level.

int. emergency waiting area

Emergency waiting room is full of people in need of care sitting about. The "unknown messenger" is there too, sleeping on a chair with a newspaper covering him.

Fairfax View Newspaper

(headline reads)

"See you in the Big City."

Gregory runs through the exit, but notices the same homeless man from the corner. He reads the newspaper headline and feels it is important. He runs out into the darkness and asks if anyone knows that homeless man.

Peace Lily explains that "Yearwood Dan" has been living in and around the area for years. Everyone knows him. She explains that people call him the messenger because he always has a sign up and doesn't take any money.

Ext. Hospital Emergency Room Exit

Ambulances speed in and out. Peace Lily and Gregory Hunt don't notice a man approaching them from the darkness.

Turnkey

So, Gregory, let's not waste time with formalities...Did you get it?

GREGORY/PEACE LILY

Huh?!(in unison)

PEACE LILY

Gregory, who is this?

GREGORY

The real question is what's he doing here?

Oona stays off the side in the shadows watching.

Episode Two: Earth Day '08 - "HUSH, Time Does Grow On Trees"

by Ambrosia and Epiphany

INT. Washington DC, Interrogation Room in heavily armed secret bunker, Earth Day

Agent Johnson of the APA interrogates Gregory Hunt. Gregory, looking annoyed, still damp from his earlier underwater pool escapades, sits across a small gray metal table from a looming Agent Johnson wearing the signature navy blue military/postman looking suit.

AGENT ALPHA
(hanging over Gregory)
How long have you had this object in your possession?

GREGORY
What object?

AGENT ALPHA
You know what object I'm talkin' about, Boy. Don't play cute --

GREGORY
(cheeky)
--Well I can't ask you for help on that one, now can I?

AGENT ALPHA
Hahaha funny...the piece of crystal-like debris...where did you get the debris from?

GREGORY
Look. I don't know what you're talking about.

AGENT JOHNSON
Oh...so now you wanna play dumb when everyone at the pool saw you throw it in there! What did Joseph Steiner tell you? Did he contact anyone?

GREGORY
Where is the Professor?! What have you done to him?!

AGENT JOHNSON
Answer my questions and you'll find out about your Professor.

GREGORY
(mockingly looking at his water-logged watch)
Soooo.....I would say we're two minutes into this thing..Isn't this the part where I get my phone call?

AGENT ALPHA
A phone call? You watch too much t.v. boy. You have no idea what you've gotten yourself into. You hacked the American Idol voter database, the Playboy Channel--

GREGORY
(Shrugging shoulders)
--I was bored. And that's old news anyway.

AGENT ALPHA
--And most recently, NASA. May I remind you, you're still on probation. This felony could land you back in jail. And this time, I'm not talking baby jail.
Gregory quiet and contemplative.

AGENT ALPHA
Now tell us what we need to know and this will all be wiped away.

GREGORY
You can't fool me. The Professor didn't do anything wrong, so your little, 'I'm a rough copy but I really want to help you', routine isn't fooling anybody. Besides, my father is a high level Judge in Washington so you're wasting you're time.

AGENT ALPHA
(sarcastic)
I'm sure your latest charges will be great for your little "high level" Judge daddy's career.
Agent Alpha gets annoyed and advances towards a sitting Gregory

AGENT ALPHA
Besides, Judges, Politicians, we control everything.
Inaudible-The Oz type leader of the Alien Protection Agency in Alpha's earpiece, warns him of revealing Too Much Information

AGENT ALPHA
(to earpiece softly)
I will sir. Apologies.

GREGORY
(mockingly)
Did you get in trouble with your "little boss"?

Alpha ignores and drops two files on the desk. One marked G. Hunt - OPEN and the other J. Steiner, M.D.,PhD - CLOSED

GREGORY
(eyes widen)
What have you done?

AGENT ALPHA
(more ominous sounding)
What did he reveal to you?

Gregory stays silent, fearing the Professor is dead.
There is a knock on the glass behind Gregory

AGENT ALPHA
Well it seems your time is up.

GREGORY
(up in arms and jumping up from the chair)
What does that mean?

Two Agents similar to Agent Alpha stroll into the room and grab Gregory by the arms

GREGORY
(fearful and struggling)
-- Get off me! Get off!

An Agent shoots Gregory in the side of his neck with an unknown silvery device and he is instantly sedated. His body slumps in their hands and they carry him away.

CUT TO:

INT. DREAM SEQUENCE, GREGORY'S MIND

Gregory is approaching a door, he turns the knob but it is locked. He digs in his pocket for the key but they are empty. Just then the door opens and there is a bright light; he covers his eyes and just then standing in front of the light is a figure tall and lanky beckoning him to come forward, he is apprehensive.

Dark figure
Gregory, Gregory...

CUT TO:

EXT. DAYTIME, GREGORY HUNT'S BACKYEARD NEAR THE SWIMMING POOL

Gregory is sleeping near the pool in the grass and is awakened by his mom.

MOTHER HUNT
Gregory, GREGORY...WAKE UP wake up you are going to get sun burn laying out here like that. Of all the crazy things. Did you have fun at Cal's house last night?

Gregory wakes with a pounding headache to find his mother standing over him with the sun behind her.

GREGORY
Cal? Who?...

MOTHER HUNT
(helping him up)
What time did you get back, did you sleep out here the whole night? Gregory, I'm speaking to you.

GREGORY
Mom. I got to go. I'm gonna be late for school.

Gregory speeds inside the house to get ready.
Mrs. Hunt looks perplexed at Gregory's need to be early to school.

EXT. JAMES VAN ALLEN H.S., DAYTIME, OUTSIDE THE MAIN ENTRANCE

The plant that Peace Lily and her Green Committee planted in front of the school the day before, on Earth Day, has grown significantly in one night. No one but Peace Lily really notices greenery anyway, so they do not become alarmed.

INT. JAMES VAN ALLEN H.S., DAYTIME, HALLWAY BETWEEN ASTRONOMY CLASS AND PROF. STEINER'S OFFICE

Gregory slowly walks down the hallway to astronomy class; he passes Prof. Steiner's office where men in navy blue, military like suits are packing his things. He is concentrating on the scene and runs right into PEACE LILY, knocking her books to the floor.

PEACE LILY, 17, EAST INDIAN, LONG DARK HAIR, English accent, CLASS GENIUS
(stooping to pick up books)
Hey. Why don't you watch where you're going? (pause) And why are you here so early?

GREGORY
(holding his head)
Why are you screaming?!

PEACE LILY
Screaming? Who's screaming? Are you okay?

GREGORY
(looking through Prof. Steiner's office window)
What happened to Steiner?

PEACE LILY
They said he retired to Borneo. He was a good Professor. But I will NOT be missing his stories of NASA, that's for sure.

GREGORY
NASA...

Gregory has a brief, mixed up flash back of Agent Alpha saying "you hacked NASA" to him. He holds his head due to his headache and tries to regroup.

GREGORY
Retired? Professor Steiner wouldn't retire.

PEACE LILY
Why wouldn't he? Especially when he had so called students like you in his class.

GREGORY
Look Green Leaf-

PEACE LILY
It's Peace Lily.

GREGORY
Whatever.

Gregory throws the last of Peace Lily's books at her. He tries to keep a low profile while passing the office. One man inside the office looks up at him. He hurries down the hall.

PEACE LILY
(In her mind)
What a wanker.

GREGORY
(right before he turns the corner down the long hallway)
I heard that!

PEACE LILY
(perplexed)
What?

CUT TO:

INT. ASTROPHYSIOLOGY CLASS, STUDENTS MILLING ABOUT

CAL-GEEKY, SQUEAKY BOY
Wow! You're early.

GREGORY
(sitting down)
Cal. Was I at your house last night?

CAL
Yes. And I had loads of fun playing Zelda and eating all the smores all by myself while you slept the whole night away.

GREGORY
Could you lower your voice. I don't want people to know I was at your house.

CAL
(whispering)
I'm speaking as low as I can--

GREGORY
--Who brought me there?

CAL
Your father.

GREGORY
He's not even supposed to be back--

SHERRY-PRETTY, BLONDE, CHEERLEADER GREGORY GIRLFRIEND
(from the hall)
G-pooh!

Peace Lily rolls her eyes. Gregory gets up to meet her by the door.

GREGORY
What's up?

SHERRY
What's up? Aren't you happy to see me? Look.
Sherry spins and jumps around showing off her new green and white cheerleader outfit
I made the squad!!! Woooo!!!

Sherry kicks a leg up.

GREGORY
(holding head)
Okay. Please stop the spinning and the yelling.

SHERRY
Aren't you happy for me? You know how hard I worked for this! Now I'm part of the Van Allen elite!

GREGORY
(disinterested)
You were always part of the Van Allen elite, without the costume.

SHERRY
Costume?! This is not a costume! I can't believe you're calling this a costume!
Gregory holds his head in pain as Sherry gets louder.

SHERRY
And why are you here so early?

GREGORY
Look. I don't know. I don't know anything anymore. All I know is that I have the worst headache known to man.

Sherry jealously examines Oona, a modelesque woman in a pencil tight skirt and fitted blouse as she struts towards them in slow motion

SHERRY
Who's that?

Gregory squints his eyes, only seeing a blur in the distance

Oona, a Messenger Guide from the planet Alturis, sent to assist Gregory into his new evolved existence; in disguise as the new professor. She sends messages to Gregory telepathically.

OONA
(telepathically as she passes)
Time for class Gregory.

Gregory stands there confused; then enters his classroom.

SHERRY
(pouting; pleading)
Gregory!

GREGORY
Later Sherry. I have class.

Closes the door slowly on her.

OONA
(placing thin brief case on the desk)
Hello class. I am your new teacher--

GREGORY
(laid back lazily on the chair)
--So what happened to Professor Steiner?

OONA
(pause)
He's not here.

GREGORY
We know that. But Where is he?

OONA
Wherever you think him to be.

GREGORY
Huh?

OONA
As I was saying before I was interrupted, I am your new teacher, Oona.

GREGORY
(raising his hand comicly)
Ms. Oona--

OONA
(walking up to him)
--No. Just Oona.

GREGORY
(surprised)
Okay, Oona. Yesterday Prof. Steiner was here. And he's the kind of guy that talks alot. You know, telling us all of his business about his past, his present and if he could, his future. He never once mentioned to us that he had plans for leaving. Don't you find that a little strange?

OONA
Maybe it wasn't planned.

GREGORY
Exactly.

PEACE LILY
(looking at Gregory)
Stop giving Oona such a hard time. She is new after all. And I don't know about you, but I want to learn. Now, please go ahead teacher.

OONA
Thank you Peace Lily. I just love a suck up.
The class laughs

PEACE LILY
(in her mind)
How did she know my name?

OONA
(telepathically to Peace Lily)
I know everything.
Peace Lily looks around to see where the voice is coming from.

OONA
Now class. We are going to have a quiz on the String Theory.
The class protests loudly

OONA
I guess, since this is my first day, I'll hold off until tomorrow. So what should we do for now?

GREGORY
Find out where Professor Steiner is.

OONA
We'll do that later

CLASSMATE 1
Let's play musical chairs.

The class laughs

OONA
Once again, later. Let me ask you a few questions just to get acquainted with how much you know or how much you do not know. Shall we? "Black holes have no hair." This famous quote by John Wheeler encapsulates the idea that black holes are inherently simple objects, specified only by their mass, spin and electric charge. It also extends to their nearby environments. The superheated, X-ray-emitting gas that is pulled in, or 'accreted', from a black hole's surroundings is predicted to show the same behavior whether it is torn from a normal star by a ten-solar-mass black-hole companion — a system known as an X-ray binary — or accreted from the innermost regions of an 'active' galaxy by a central, supermassive black hole of a certain size. What is that size?

The whole class is silent;mouths open, dumbfounded

OONA
(holding up chalk)
Anyone? Ah, Peace Lily.

Peace Lily for the first time does not know.

PEACE LILY
Uhhh

OONA
Gregory?

The class laughs hysterically

GREGORY
Me?

OONA
Come on Gregory. I have faith in you.

GREGORY
I don't think so.

OONA
Come on. You can do it.

Gregory gets up and heads toward the chalk board. The class expects a pre-school stick figure drawing. He pauses staring at the board, then the headache gets more intense. He then writes the correct answer 106–109 solar masses.

OONA
That is correct.

THE WHOLE CLASS
Correct?!

OONA
And how did you come to that answer Gregory Hunt?

Information is automatically being downloaded to his brain and he writes the massive equation, taking up two boards and about four minutes of writing.

CLASSMATE 1
He has no idea what he's doing.

CLASSMATE 2
Can we go home now?!

Class laughs together

GREGORY
With anger, Gregory scribbles the end of the equation, the length of two chalk boards and returns to his seat
There. Happy?!!

OONA
(excited at Gregory's evolutionary jump)
Very good Gregory. You may have a seat now.

GREGORY
(whispering to himself)
How did I know that?

PEACE LILY
(to a student sitting next to her)
How did he know that?
Ms. Oona throws more questions at Gregory and he answers just as quickly. She goes on teaching the class verbally all the while assessing Gregory's newly uploaded knowledge base.
Oona rapidly throws more and more questions at Gregory

OONA
What is the square root of 676?

GREGORY
(answering without thinking)
26

OONA
What is--

GREGORY
Wait, Wait! These answers are just pop popping into my head. You did this! You're one of them! What have you people done to me? What have you done with Prof Steiner?

OONA
(smiling reaches out for Gregory)
Gregory it's okay

GREGORY
(jumping up backing towards the door)
Stay away from me. All of you, stay away from me!

Gregory grabs his head as he stumbles to the ground)

GREGORY
My head is bursting, stay away, please...help me, somebody help me!
Gregory slumps to the floor as a stunned classroom looks on in shock.

OONA
Everyone. He is fine.
Peace Lily rushes over to Gregory, kneeling down at his side.

PEACE LILY
He's not fine. Get the nurse somebody!

A student runs out to get the nurse. Peace Lily touches his face and Gregory opens his eyes slowly. When she releases, his eyes close again.

CUT TO:

INT. SCHOOL'S INFIRMARY, SEVERAL EMPTY BEDS
int. school's iNfirmary,several empty beds
Gregory is laying on his side, he opens his eyes blinking repeatedly and stares directly into a silver like object. Everything is blurry and he is unable to focus. He sees things, like colorful energy bursts beyond his comprehension. It takes him a couple of minutes to move again and open his eyes completely.

GREGORY
(holding head)
Uh where am I?
Gregory tries to get up but falls back, disoriented.

OONA
(telepathically from the classroom)
You're in your school's infirmary.
Gregory quickly spins his head around alarmed, but sees no one in the room with him.

GREGORY
Who? What?

OONA
(telepathically)
Relax before they think you're crazy.
Gregory looks underneath his stretcher, in the closet, under a desk for where the voice is coming from. The school nurse, about to walk in, observes him through the glass window in the door.

GREGORY
I know it's you, Oona! Or whatever your real name is! Where are you?!

OONA
(calmly)
Hushhhhhhhh. You're being watched.
Gregory then looks up to see the nurse at the door. She then walks in as if she wasn't observing him.

NURSE
How are we feeling Gregory?

GREGORY
Uhhh...fine
(holding his head)
But I have a headache from the depths of hell. Was someone just in my room? I thought I heard a woman's voice.

NURSE
Maybe it was your mom. She was here earlier. I think she wanted to chat with your teacher.

GREGORY
Can I get something for this headache?

NURSE
Well, you're still a minor so your mom will have to okay it. I'll see if she's back yet.
Nurse walks out

OONA
(telepathically)
That's not going to help your headache, Gregory.

GREGORY
What!? Whose there?

OONA
(telepathically, almost robotic sounding)
You are suffering from information upload. Your pituitary gland is triggering the release of data that has been hardwired into the human conscious from your beginnings.

GREGORY
What?!

OONA
You and your professor touched something...remember Gregory?

GREGORY
What are you talking about? Am I imagining things?! Am I going crazy!

OONA
What you and Professor Steiner touched has triggered--Your mother is coming.
Gregory's mother rushes into the room and hugs a confused Gregory

MOTHER HUNT
Are you okay sweetie?

GREGORY
Well uh--

MOTHER HUNT
I should have never let you go to school after I saw you sleeping by the pool. Let's go home.

CUT TO:

INT. GREGORY'S DIMLY LIT BEDROOM
Clothes everywhere, Gregory is sitting on his bed, a tray of food sits untouched. He looks over at the steak, pokes it with the fork and feels so nauseated that he pushes the tray aside. He heads for the bathroom to shower

CUT TO:

INT. GREGORY'S BATHROOM

Steamed filled bathroom. Gregory exits the shower and dries off. He stops in from of the sink and wipes the vapor off of the mirror. He looks at himself inthe mirror. Unhappy with his tired appearance he stares intently at his reflection.

OONA
You will have to learn to control it you know.

GREGORY
(startled, turns around) What?! Oh God. Not the voices again!

OONA
Look into the mirror Gregory and you will see.

GREGORY
Who are you really and why are you always in my head? Go away!

OONA
Look into the mirror, Gregory, the answers are there.

GREGORY
What answers? What do you want?! Get out of my head.

Gregory holds his head and shakes it vigorously.
Gregory's sister Marsha Hunt obnoxiously pushes his bathroom door open

GREGORY
What the--?!

MARSHA
Playing sick to get out of school early? That's so old and lame.

GREGORY
Look who's talkin about old and lame.

MARSHA
I should slap you!

GREGORY
And I should slap you right now for sending those...those postman-looking men out after me yesterday.

MARSHA
What are you talking about, Stupid?

GREGORY
You play dumb so well. You know what I'm talkin about? Those men dressed in those blue suits who were all over the house. I saw you pointing me out in the car. What a snitch!

MARSHA
Look. That's sounds great and all but I don't know what you're talking about.

Gregory zooms into a pin mark on the right side of his sister's neck. Then he experiences a flash back of the "postmen" holding him down and sticking a needle in his neck. He then looks into his mirror on his desk and sees the same pin mark on his neck.

MARSHA
Anyway Crazy, your little sick leave scheme didn't work. You're teacher's downstairs talking to mom and dad. Good luck!

Marsha struts away laughing

INT. GREGORY'S BEDROOM
Gregory rushes into his bedroom to get his clothes on quickly.

CUT TO:

INT. LIVING ROOM OF HUNT HOME

The elegantly decorated living room is washed with orange as sunset approaches. Gregory walks quietly down the stairs towards the voices in the living room.

JUDGE HUNT
Oh there you are son. How are you feeling? Your teacher, ah Ms. Oona is it?

OONA
Just Oona.

JUDGE HUNT
Ah yes. Your teacher was kind enough to stop by and check on you.Come on over and say hello.
Gregory walks in cautiously

GREGORY
Oh, hello there Oona. Lovely day we're having wouldn't you say?

OONA
Certainly.

OONA
(telepathically with smile on face)
I'm not your enemy Gregory. I'm here to help.

GREGORY
(telepathically without realizing)
Says the voice in my head.

Oona smiles at his ability to communicate telepathically. Gregory is shocked that he can communicate this way.

OONA
(telepathically)
Very good Gregory. You're learning quickly.

GREGORY
Tea? Crumpets?

OONA
(out loud)
Why I came here is firstly to see how you were feeling. I notice you're in good spirits so that's wonderful. And secondly, to see if your parents would allow you to take a tour of the Museums of Science on the East Coast within the coming weeks. Gregory showed great intellectual promise in class today. I see a lot of potential.

JUDGE HUNT
(looks up startled)
Gregory?

MOTHER HUNT
Why Gregory, that's wonderful!

GREGORY
(out loud to Oona)
I'm not going anywhere with you.

MOTHER HUNT AND JUDGE HUNT
Gregory!

JUDGE HUNT
We apologize on his behalf.

GREGORY
I don't need anybody apologizing on my behalf. I'm not going. End of Story.

OONA
Well Gregory. I'm sorry to hear that. I understand you don't know me as this is my first day filling in for your lovely ex-Professor Steiner. I heard how much you miss him. Oh, Did I mention that we'll be visiting him during our tour?

Gregory's eyes widen

OONA
(telepathically)
I know where your professor is.

GREGORY
(telepathically)
You mean where you're keeping him.

JUDGE HUNT
Gregory. If you're not up to traveling then--

GREGORY
--Maybe this trip holds some promise for me, dad. If Oona thinks I have a lot of potential, then I think I should explore.

GREGORY
(telepathically to Oona)
I want to know what you know.

OONA
(telepathically)
In time. In time.

JUDGE HUNT
Great. So I am giving you permission to travel across state lines. I'll have the paper work done up tomorrow. I'm sorry Ms. Oona, would you like a drink?
Gregory examines his father's neck and sees a pin prick on the right side just like Marsha's and his. He then looks over to his mom's and sees nothing. So he adjusts his eyes until they become like a magnifying glass, superhumanly zooming into her neck at the microscopic level. Gregory pulls back in fear and rubs his eyes.

OONA
Nothing for me, I don't drink, thank you.

MOTHER HUNT
Oh Judgy. Don't offer Gregory's teacher alcohol in the afternoon. Would you like a soft drink, some juice or water then?

OONA
I don't drink.

The Hunt's look at each other a little perplexed. Oona gets up

OONA
I have to be going now. Thank you for your hospitality.

Oona makes her way to the door.

OONA
(telepathically)
Gregory, meet me at Fairfax General Hospital at 9:00pm tonight. And don't even think about being late. I will explain everything you need to know at this time. We have a lot to do.

GREGORY
Yes. Thanks for stopping by.

Oona exits.

EXT. OUTSIDE THE HOUSE

Oona jumps in her 2009 Mercedes Benz and speeds down the road. Two agents, Agent Sigma-a young man in his 20's, more technically saavy than the older, more experienced and best agent, Agent Alpha. They watch Oona from an unmarked van a few meters away as she goes.

AGENT ALPHA
Anything?

AGENT SIGMA
Nothing. License plate didn't come up. And her facial imaging brought up no matches.
They look at each other alarmed.

AGENT ALPHA
Contact the APA

AGENT sigma
I already did.

The older Agent Alpha gives a jealous look to the younger, newer, more technically saavy Agent Sigma who is trying to rise up in ranks quickly.

EXT. BACKYARD SWIMMING POOL

Gregory walks out back door dragging his back pack on the
ground with half eaten sandwich in hand. As he passes the
pool, a small piece of space debris falls into water with a
loud splash. Gregory turns around to get a closer look. The
pool begins to steam, then bubble for a few seconds, then
the entire surface turns still, clear and placid. A montage
of scenes in human history begin to play out from an Earth
with a totally volcanic surface to the creation of the first
humans, to the construction of famous pieces of architecture
from ancient Egypt and Greico-Roman times, etc. Gregory
looks on in awe.

MARSHA HUNT, 20 YEAR OLD COLLEGE STUDENT
(abruptly from back yard door
snickering)
Do you know what time it is? I
can’t wait to tell mom and dad when
they come back.

Immediately scenes in the pool cease.

GREGORY
(sarcastically)
And you’re still home because...?

MARSHA HUNT
Uh. Spring Break?

GREGORY
Is that what the Losers are calling
it these days ?

MARSHA HUNT
How could you forget? You’re the
reason why I’m stuck here in the
dog walking capital of the world
instead of on a beach with my
friends in Cancun!

GREGORY
(jumping on bike, riding
through bushes)
Here we go again. Yap, Yap Yap.

Gregory hides in hedges until his sister leaves. When she
leaves, Gregory re-enters and kneels down to the pool to get
a closer look and sees a black contraption at the bottom of
the pool.

GREGORY
Oh Shit.

Gregory drops his book bag, takes his coat off and goes into
the pool to retrieve the contraption. Holding the white
crystal like rock with a small black cube-like piece of
metal in the middle that resembles a pupil, he stares at it
eye to eye for a moment and places it in his pocket and
heads off to school on his bike. On the road, he turns to
his right and notices a vagrant in tattered clothing staring

at him, holding up a cardboard sign with scratchy crayon
writing, which reads, All Eyes On U. Gregory disregards it.

EXT. JAMES VAN ALLEN HIGH SCHOOL OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY 5

Professor Joseph Steiner ending his Astronomy class with one
of his usual trips down memory lane.

PROF. JOSEPH STEINER,54, WELL-GROOMED
Oh yes. Peace Lily. Did you want to
say a few words to the class?

Peace Lily, a female East Indian student with colorful
flyers in her hand, heads to the front of the class, upset
that Prof. Steiner’s story only gave her a few seconds to
speak.

PEACE LILY
(excitable)
As you all know, today is Earth Day
and the Green Committee, headed by
muah, will be hosting the Plant a
Tree, Save a Life project. Today,We
will be planting trees all over the
neighborhood starting with one in
the front yard of the
school. Please join us if you
haven’t...

Gregory enters the classroom, wet shoes squeaking.

PROFESSOR STEINER
Well nice of you to join us Mr.
Hunt. Wet and all.

GREGORY
Professor Steiner, I have a good
reason.

Bell rings: Students begin to slowly graze out of the class

PEACE LILY
(underneath her breath)
Wanker.

GREGORY
(to Peace Lily)
I heard that.

PROFESSOR STEINER
(stern but calm to Gregory)
You have a good reason for what?
Being late to my class for the
second time this week and it’s only
Tuesday and not counting everyday
last week. Mr. Hunt, you have
demonstrated NOTHING that exhibits
any REMOTE possibility or
probability that YOU could ever
possibly have a good reason to
continuously rehearse blatant
negligence and lack of regard for
me and this class. You are going to
have to shape up.

GREGORY
But Professor--

remaining students exiting and laughing at Gregory

PROFESSOR STEINER
(Closing his briefcase and
heading out the door)
--Buck up, Mister!

Happy Earth Day posters on display on walls in school
hallways.

GREGORY
(following closely behind with
the debris in his pocket to
hide from nosy onlookers)
But Professor Steiner, If you could
just take a minute to look at
this--

PROF
--Mr. Hunt, I am up to my eyeballs
with your shenanigans. Do be
certain to turn in all missed
assignments by tomorrow.

Slams his office door in Gregory’s face

GREGORY
(Pauses a moment, then
unperturbed, opens door
without knocking and walks in)

PROF
(fixing papers on desk which
are already perfectly stacked)

PROF (cont’d)
So, Mister Hunt, not only do you
disrespect my class, but my private
office space as well? You’re
scoring a lot of points today.

GREGORY
(walks over to desk and drops
the debris into the
professor’s glass of water)
Here’s my reason.

Water steams and bubbles over

PROF
(jumping from chair)
What are you... How dare you
contaminate my water?! Look at this
mess!

GREGORY
Shit!

PROF
(cleaning up mess with
handkerchief)
Now you’re swearing?

GREGORY
Look Professor. It’s a bad habit.
I’m sorry. But you should have seen
it this morning in my pool!

PROF
(firmly)
Gregory, you have a lot of
potential but these pranks that you
pull...It’s quite unfortunate. Now
out of my office!

GREGORY
(animated with urgency)
Okay. So you’re this big
Astrophysicists right? You always
go on and on and on about your good
ole days at NASA, how you were the
creator of Project USC59425--

PROF
--Well I ... wait...I never talked
about that Project. I--

GREGORY
--No worries. I looked you up. They
really screwed you over huh?

PROF
(feeling uncomfortable and
tugging at his bow tie)

GREGORY
Okay I didn’t mean to bring that
up. They are good stories but let’s
face it, we’ve heard them all. So I
decided to do a little research.
Anyway, the question right now is,
What is this?

emptying glass in Professor’s hand

PROFESSOR
(fixing eyeglasses and taking
a closer look)
It looks like an eye. Is it
staring at me?

GREGORY
I think it’s space debris from the
satellite they shot down yesterday.

PROF
(pacing while examining
eye-like debris in hand)
Well Gregory, being that you
practically know everything about
me, no doubt as a result of illegal
hackery, I will let you on to
another secret.

PROF (CONT’D)
(taking glasses off, staring
intently at Greg)
There was never a US-295 satellite

GREGORY
What? Are you sure? What about the
images they showed on T.V.?

PROF
T.V. is nothing more than the
airborne transmission of
photo-electronic waves to a
mechanical receiver with filters of
color. Easy to manipulate.

GREGORY
(sarcastically)
Well, thank you for that Professor
Steiner. But that doesn’t explain
the images that this piece of
whatever it is conjured up in my
backyard pool.

PROF
Images?

GREGORY
When it fell in my pool, there was
steam and it bubbled up and then
images of, of....erupting
volcanoes. In a flash I saw cave
people wearing rags and making
fires, then ancient times and then
they were building the pyramids and
that Coliseum in Rome. Other things
popped up too, like history
unfolding. Then my dumb sister
interrupted.

PROF
(excitable, holding the object
up to the light)
If what you are saying is true, do
you have any idea what you have
stumbled upon... or, what has
stumbled upon you? I need to see
these images.

GREGORY
That’s why I dropped it in your
glass of water.

PROF
H20!The trigger! Maybe the surface
area of the glass is too small. We
need something larger.

GREGORY
(eyes widen as an idea comes
to him)
Follow me Professor.

STEINER
(following; holding hands in
prayer mode)
Please don’t let this be one of his
antics.

Unnoticed by teachers, as they pass the opened door of the
faculty lounge, a news reporter on the T.V. describes
accounts.

REPORTER

CUT TO:

INT. SCHOOL GYM POOL 6

PROF
(standing apprehensively
looking at pool with debris in
hand)

GREGORY
(urging)
Throw it in.

PROF
Are you insane?! Do you know how
valuable this object is?!

GREGORY
It fell from Space!

PROF
Okay Okay.

Reluctantly drops debris in the middle of pool. Immediately
the entire pool froths up and bubbles for several seconds.
Then it calms and begins to display a show of scenes of
Earth’s history from the beginning.

PROF
(in awe)

GREGORY
I told you.

PROF
Magnificent!

Scenes continue shifting in a flash from one to the other.

PROF
(elated)
Recorded history from the vantage
point of space. Do you know what
this means? They looked at me like
I was some kind of bumbling bafoon,
but now, I, WE finally have
tangible evidence to prove the
existence of Intelligent Alien
Life!

GREGORY
(alarmed)
Alien?

PROF
This, this "eye" no doubt is a
recording device with play back
capabilities. This was my project
USC59425. To prove my theory of
Alien Intelligence with focus on
the so called satellite. I was
curious, too curious as to why this
Unidentified Orbiting Object that
just became visible with radar was
being passed off as a US
"satellite", so I studied it and
its patterns after hours and
realized that it was communicating
information out into space.

GREGORY
Wait a minute. Out into space?

PROF
(shakes head in the
affirmative)
Just when I was about to study the
patterns of communication and more
importantly, the receiver of the
information, I was shut down,
forced to resign and given an
ultimatum. I chose James Van Allen
H.S.

GREGORY
So these, Aliens have been watching
us and recording us from the
beginning of time? I’m NOT feeling
that. What if they’re looking for
the right opportunity to murder us
all!

The boys Water Polo team begins filing loudly into the pool
area.

GREGORY
Ah Shit!

Jumps into pool to stop water polo team from seeing scenes.
He swims down to the debris and places it in his pocket. As
he resurfaces, he screams in faux victory like a jock. Water
Polo team returns with cave-manish yells at what they see as
Gregory’s regular antics.

WATER POLO TEAM
(in unison chanting)
GREG! GREG! GREG!

PROF
(to Greg as he climbs out of pool;
whispering)

I have to get this to a friend of
mine in DC.

GREGORY
(whispering back)
Professor. You plus talking to me,
equals ruining my rep.

Greg victoriously raising arms up

GREGORY (CONT’D)
YEAH!

Okay. What did Gregory do now?

CUT TO:

EXT. FACULTY PARKING AT JAMES VAN ALLEN HIGH SCHOOL OF
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Professor Steiner jumps inside his out-of-date Station wagon
as Gregory stands outside.

GREGORY
(squeezing water out of
clothes)
Where are we headed?

PROF
WE are not headed anywhere. I am
headed to my only friend in NASA
who is equipped to test this debris
in his lab. Every year he holds a
demonstration by the Reflection
Pool in D.C. to protest Global
Warming. I’m sure he’s there right
now.

GREGORY
(pleading)
Come on. I have to go--

PROF
(starting up car)
--Now Gregory, I will not be an
accessory to your delinquency.

Professor pumping on the gas peddle. The engine rattles
loudly as a heap of black smoke comes out of the rotted
muffler.

GREGORY
Looks like you’re not going
anywhere either.

PROF
(fondly rubbing dashboard)
She’ll start up eventually, right
Ella? Now give me The Eye!

GREGORY
Not until you promise to let me go
with you.

PROF
Now you know you can’t-

GREGORY
You’re not the only discoverer of
this...this Eye. Remember, it fell
in MY pool.

PROF
(looking defeated)

GREGORY
(jumping into passenger seat)
Thanks.

Immediately as Gregory enters, the car starts up with a
brand new sounding engine.

PROF
(perplexed)
Ella hasn’t sounded like this since
the first time I drove her from the
showroom.

GREGORY
In 1908?

PROF
(starts driving, noticing his
hands on the steering wheel)
My age spots. They’re gone! My age
spots are gone!

Almost runs into stop sign at parking lot exit; car
screeches to a halt.

GREGORY
Hey! Hey! Hey! Professor! Take it
easy!

PROFESSOR
My age spots are gone! It must be
the Eye! There are so many
possibilities. I can’t wait to
test it. Woo Hoo!!!

unmarked black vans are parked on the street and lawn. Men
in hazmat suits are also examining the front yard and the
interior of the house.

GREGORY
(pointing)
That’s my house!! Slow down!

Professor slows car down

MARSHA HUNT
(coming out of front door with
2 agents; looks up)
That’s him! That’s my brother!

Agents look over to the station wagon and start advancing
quickly on foot towards it.

GREGORY
Drive!!! Drive!!!

The Professor screeches off and a heated chase ensues as six
unmarked vans trail them.

GREGORY
Why are they at my house?!

PROF
(out of breath)
My career is over!!!

GREGORY
Okay. Let’s calm down.

PROF
Calm down? We’re being chased by
God knows who.

GREGORY
Probably the CIA or some kind of
Alien Protection Agency.

PROF
Apparently they have some kind of
tracking device on this piece of
debris! They want it bad!

GREGORY
Can’t this thing drive faster?!!

PROF
She’s Ella and I don’t want to
damage her.

GREGORY
If you don’t step on that gas
Professor, they’ll be damaging us!

AGENT
(using the van’s external
speakers)
Pull over right now!

GREGORY
(commanding)
Professor, do not stop this car!

PROF
(throwing cell phone to
Gregory)
Here. Call my friend Jack Turnkey
and tell him that I’m on my
way. Ask him where he’s located by
the pool.

EXT. THE REFLECTION POOL BY THE CAPITOL BUILDING:
WASHINGTON, D.C.

Thousands of Earth Day protesters are demonstrating against
numerous issues such as Global Warming and War; holding
signs and yelling their passions. Opposing groups are on the
verge of physical confrontation. News crews are present in
full force.

DR. JACK TURNKEY
Now is the time for action
people! Now is the time to take
our planet back and heal it! WE can
reverse global warming!

People shouting in agreement; Cell phone rings but Dr.
Turnkey can not hear it.

EXT. CAR CHASE DOWN STREET TO REFLECTION POOL

After chasing the Station wagon for several miles, the
agents catch up to them as they near the Reflection Pool.

AGENT
(speaking through van radio)
This is your last chance! Pull
over or we will be forced to shoot!

PROF
(driving erratically)
Oh no! No shooting!

GREGORY
They’re not gonna shoot,
okay. It’s all about the bluff.

Agents begin to shoot at station wagon but miss.

GREGORY (CONT’D)
Oh Shit!

PROF
Oh! My poor Ella!

GREGORY
How far is this pool?!

Agents shoot at car again; back window shatters completely.
Gregory and the Professor duck while car swerves out of
control and runs into the back of another car. Angry driver
jumps out of car. Professor scared frozen.

GREGORY
(rushing out of car)
Come on!

PROF
Ella!

GREGORY
(racing towards pool on foot)
Let’s go!

Gregory, with debris in hand and the Professor run towards
the demonstration site. Several Agents trail them closely.
The professor sees his friend at a distance on top of a make
shift stage right by the east side of the Reflection Pool.

PROF
There he is!

GREGORY
Get lost in the crowd!

They slow down and start trying to blend in with crowd by
chanting with angry protesters and raising their arms up
with them. Agents spot them. Professor gets close to his
friend.

PROF
(wildly waving)
Jack! Jack!

An agent shoots professor in the leg. He falls over
instantly behind Greg.

PROF (CONT’D)
(from the ground)
Greg! Run! Run! Greg! Run!

Greg pushes the crowd out of his way as he runs close to the
edge of the Reflection Pool. An agent catches him by his
shoulder and two other agents join and tackle him down. In a
last ditch effort, Greg throws the debris into the pool as
protesters look on gasping in terror. News crews are
already filming this new spectacle. Then, as before, the
pool steams up and bubbles. Then a montage of scenes of
recorded human history play out from the beginning of
Earth’s history, but this time, it is being broadcast live
on television for millions to witness, including the
thousands of protesters on hand. Everyone, including the
Agents stop dead in their tracks and silence in awe.

REPORTER
(by the pool reporting live at
the scene)
I do not know what is causing these
images, but what we are witnessing
from the Reflection Pool looks like
recorded history from the beginning
of Earth’s existence. It is truly
an amazing sight to see. Earth Day
protesters are stunned into
absolute silence...
